TRUMP AND PROJECT 2025, WHICH HURTS IMMIGRANTS, MUST BE STOPPED
In less than 60 days one of the most important elections affecting Latinos and immigrants will take place.
In less than 60 days one of the most important elections in recent years that will affect Latinos and immigrants in the United States will take place.
As you already know, former President Trump is trying to return to the White House bringing with him a devastating policy for Hispanics and immigrants in general. Some time ago the Heritage Foundation, which is a right-wing policy organization, drafted a blueprint consisting of hundreds of pages called “Project 2025.”
PROJECT 2025 is a plan that the Republicans want to implement if they win the White House and Congress, although Trump says he knows nothing about such a plan, as I mentioned before most of the people who drafted the plan are people who worked directly with Donald Trump when he was president. Trump has said he doesn't know much about the plan and that it's not necessarily the plan he will implement, but that doesn't make much sense. Steven Miller was one of his main collaborators on immigration issues and he was the one who drafted the part that has to do with immigrants.
The Latino community will be one of the most affected not only in the immigration issue but also with the plans to cut benefits such as Medicaid and increase in drug prices, they also want to eliminate the Department of Education that has special programs such as Head Start, English as a second language and other bilingual programs, which also gives much protection against discrimination, also affects women on issues of abortion and reproductive rights and eliminates projects to protect the environment and climate change.
In short, Latinos will be greatly affected as a hardworking sector of society that benefits from many of these programs and also in their civil rights.
The most alarming part of Project 2025 is the part that has to do with the immigration issue where they are talking about massive deportations, we saw at the Republican convention in Milwaukee a few weeks ago delegates with big signs calling for massive deportations including the elimination of programs such as DACA, TPS and Biden's new program for spouses of U.S. citizens.
Project 2025 specifies how to detain, arrest and deport millions of immigrants not only affecting the immigrant community and the families of millions of people, but also causing an economic crisis in the country as we know that immigrants perform many of the jobs among them in the field, construction, hotels, restaurants, etc.
This plan is frightening and we have to do everything we can to prevent it, let's ask our relatives, neighbors, co-workers, etc. who are citizens over 18 years old to go out and vote. In the next few weeks we will talk about how to find out if you are registered to vote, where you should vote and also how to vote absentee or vote by mail and not have to go on election day in case you have any inconvenience. The most important thing is to make sure you register and show up to vote.
We will continue to talk about how to stop the Republicans, it is not only about supporting Kamala Harris, who is not perfect, but has many positive things being the daughter of immigrants and at the same time prevent Trump from coming back with his macabre plan of Project 2025.
We have also seen how Trump in his TV ads blames immigrants for all crime, health problems and housing problems, when we know it is not true and also statistics show that crime is lower among immigrants including undocumented immigrants.
We must not allow the lie to win, we must organize and citizens must show up to vote, Michigan will be one of the key states for this election.
Yes we can!
