Last week Judge J. Campbell Baker of Texas who is in charge of the lawsuit filed by Republican governors against Biden's program to keep families together, announced that he was going to wait until the 23rd to decide what will happen with the Republicans' lawsuit to stop the program.

In the meantime the federal government is still accepting applications but is not processing them, we will have more information after September 23rd and we know that the legal process may take a long time, it is sad and it is another example that the Republicans although they talk about being pro family and pro legal immigration really do not want to support immigrants and their families. We are positive even though the legal fight may take time, we hope that immigrants will ultimately benefit from this program.

GOVERNMENT RE-IMPOSES HUMANITARIAN PAROLE PROGRAM FOR VENEZUELA, NICARAGUA, CUBA AND HAITI

A few days ago the government reactivated again the humanitarian parole program through which people from the above mentioned countries, who have a sponsor in the United States can request a parole or special permission to enter the United States legally by air.

A few weeks ago the government put the program on hold claiming that there was a lot of fraud especially from people who were sponsoring immigrants from these countries. The program has been reactivated with several changes in the process to ensure its security, but also to maintain the purpose of the program, which is to reunify families.

One of the most important changes is that they will put more focus on vetting sponsors in the United States, reviewing their financial records and criminal backgrounds even requiring fingerprinting to tighten security and identify intentions of fraud or serial filings. So far the program has allowed more than 500,000 immigrants from these 4 countries to legally immigrate to the United States on commercial flights obtaining a work permit for at least two years.

The majority of applicants have been Haitians, then Cubans, Venezuelans and Nicaraguans, with an average of 100,000 per country for Latinos and more than 200,000 for Haitians. If you have friends, acquaintances or relatives from these countries who want to participate in the program it is important that you do it soon, we know that in case Trump wins he will most likely eliminate this program or the process may take longer due to security measures. Remember that the U.S. sponsor does not have to be a relative of the person, from one of these countries, whom you want to help.

We agree that the program should continue and also the idea is to lessen a lot of the pressure at the border and the dangers that these people face in crossing through dangerous places to get to the United States especially for people coming from countries where there are more political and socioeconomic problems.

TRUMP CONTINUES WITH THE LIES IN THE DEBATE

Tuesday, September 10 was the first and perhaps only debate between former President Trump and candidate Kamala Harris. Trump continued as usual with his lies on the immigration issue attacking Harris for supposedly allowing an invasion of criminals, he continued with his accusation of the criminality of immigrants although statistics show that the percentage of crime among immigrants is much lower than that of U.S. citizens and that serious crimes have decreased in the United States.

A new lie just as ridiculous has been against the Haitian community of which supposedly there are rumors that they are killing pets, for something that came out in social networks, which has not been verified by any city authority in Ohio. The rumor began because someone reported that a neighbor's friend said that a Haitian had killed a cat, typical of the lies where the Trumpists try to scare the country with stories that are not true besides that in such an important national debate to decide the president of the country we have to listen to this kind of ridiculous lies.

Trump also talked about his macabre plan to deport millions of immigrants and said he will use local police to do it, we must stop him we cannot allow Trump to win again. It is important that all citizens over 18 years old register and vote, in the next articles we will talk about how to do it.
