IT IS TIME TO STAND UP FOR JUSTICE AND BUILD A BETTER FUTURE FOR IMMIGRANTS AND MICHIGAN IS A KEY STATE.

If we want justice and a better future for immigrants all U.S. citizens over the age of 18 need to vote either on November 5, election day or by absentee a few days before, as this is perhaps one of the most important elections of the century.

We already know the craziness and racism of candidate Trump talking about mass deportations and his sensationalist lies that Haitians are eating our pets, using the old political tactics of fear and division.

Now more than ever it is in our hands the opportunity to move forward and build a united, peaceful and diverse country or go backwards with feelings of racism and division, depending on our choice of either Vice President Harris or former President Trump and just like 4 years ago and 8 years ago the state of Michigan is one of the key states.

The United States has a state-by-state electoral vote system for the presidency and Michigan, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Georgia are the most key states as the polls during the campaign reflect almost 50-50 between the two candidates and the presidency and the future of the entire country can be decided by very few votes so it is important that all citizens of legal age register, they can still do so until election day, and show up at the polls to vote.

THE REQUIREMENTS TO VOTE IN MICHIGAN ARE:

Be a U.S. citizen, either by birth or naturalization,

Be at least 17.5 years of age at the time of registration and 18 years of age at the time of voting,

Not be serving time in jail or prison,

Be a resident of the state of Michigan.

If you, your family members or friends are citizens over the age of 18 it is very important that you register and vote!

They can register or make sure if they are registered online if they have access to a computer or smart phone.

If you are a U.S. citizen and have not registered, but want to do it online you need your Michigan ID or driver's license and the last four numbers of your social security, if you can't do it yourself you can come to our office we will be happy to help you both to check if you are registered and to register, you can also register to vote absentee so you don't have to do it in person on election day. Our office is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (we close at noon) and obviously we can help you register or check your voter status at no charge.

If you do not have a Michigan license or ID but are a U.S. citizen there are other ways to register to vote and we can explain how to do so, we also have information about the candidates, explaining the big difference between Trump and Harris.

I ask that in the next few days you take the time to ask all your US citizens over the age of 18 that you know first if they are registered and second if they know how and where they are going to vote we don't want to wake up the day after the election with the news that Trump and his politics of hate have won because he won in the state of Michigan by a few votes and then we have to live the nightmare.

In the coming weeks we will also talk about other candidates we should vote for like the congresswoman for Grand Rapids and Holland, attorney Hilary Scholten, who has been an immigration attorney and has always supported immigrant rights.

If we want a better nation we must vote Yes We Can.
